Low Growing & Ground Cover
The Power of Flowers
Low growing plants create a floral carpet on your borders and are an excellent and attractive solution to suppressing stubborn weeds. Sometimes called a groundcover the low growing plant species is 3 ft tall or shorter. It spreads to form a fairly dense layer of vegetation. They are also great for gardens with stone paths, patios and drives; softening the look of the stone.
The best choice here is to choose drought tolerant plants as stone can retain heat in the summer. You’ll also need plants that can take a bit of stepping on!
Low growers are also a great way to cover up dull patches and look sensational around the edge of your beds.
The number of groundcover plants to install per unit area depends on the growth rate of a particular species, the amount of time you want a planting area to be completely filled by foliage, and your budget.
